NOTD: BeautyUK and Maybelline Colour Show

Hey everyone! I feel like I've neglected my blog a bit lately, so I'm currently in the process of writing a few blog posts in advance incase I don't have the time, which I probably won't) to write some for you lovely lot :) Just wanted to say hello to any new followers too, I'm glad the number is increasing:) yay! Hello :D
Ps. I sincerely apologise for the state of my nails in these photos, I haven't found a wonderful hand cream as of yet - boo.

I recently bought both of these polishes but I haven't worn the beautyuk one yet, until now.. My Maybelline one (NOTD post here) lasted me a good week and a bit and I was super impressed, especially because I want to have to paint my nails probably once a week, not everyday. But I thought I'd try this beautyuk one out and see how it fairs to my No7 one in Lilac which I have been looking for a replacement of. 

The polish itself is very opaque, so I had to stick two coats on, but thankfully it dries super quick so putting two coats on wasn't a problem. I then topped it with Maybelline's Colour Show top coat in clear, just to add a bit of chip resistance and extra gloss.

Review: Phil Smith Argan Oil Cream

Hello lovies, sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been super busy with coursework deadlines for college and revision and life is just work work work at the mo. To get myself back into the swing of things I thought I'd do a quick review of the free gift inside this month's Cosmo, well May 2013 edition. It isn't often that I buy magazines, but I have to confess I've been after trying products with the argan oil in and when I saw that Cosmo was giving it away I kind of had to buy it.

I was excited to try this product, as I've heard and read so many positive things about how smooth it makes your hair look and feel, and as I struggle to get my hair to look soft I thought this would be a lovely thing to try :) 

The product itself comes in a very cute pink bottle, which has a tiny hole for getting the product out. Personally I think this is great because it means you don't waste any excess product by squeezing too hard. I was expecting an oily, quite transparent liquid to come out but instead it's a lovely white cream that is super easy to work with! It smells lovely too. 

Now it says to use this on damp, towel dried hair and then blowdry as usual. I love doing it this was as I find it also protects my locks from heat so I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that it will encourage my hair to grow some more. I also find this works wonders as a smoothing serum. Like I said its of a cream texture, so I find rubbing it inbetween my fingers then smoothing any frizzy areas brill - beware you do not need a lot of this product at all! My hair is just past my shoulders, and I probably use the size of cream in the picture above, maybe less.

Overall, it's such a lovely product and it's made my hair look so soft and 'together'! I am definitely going to be purchasing this in it's normal size - believe it or not, the 50ml size I have above is the sample size!

Skincare haul

Hey lovelies, I went out shopping with the intention of buying a new skin care regime as I felt like my old one wasn't working for me so why stick to one that doesn't work?

Okay, so the first place I went to was Superdrug, I love Superdrug so much, but unfortunately it's really hard for me to get to and if I don't buy things it isn't worth the expenditure in bus fare - boo. But I nipped in when my mum was food shopping and picked up some goodies. I'm trying really hard to focus on my skincare now as opposed to buying makeup to cover up my uneven, blemished skin because I really want to stop buying foundations and everything because every time I buy one I'm always disappointed and it just lies around going off, and I'd heard great things about particular items of the superdrug range so I thought I'd give them a try.

The first thing I bought was the Naturally Radiant Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser from Superdrug's own brand, and it was £5.99 for a 150ml bottle and a muslin cloth, which compared to some high end and not so high end hot cloth cleansers is very cheap. I tried this the evening that I got it and I'm super impressed, my skin felt so pampered and smooth after using this and it doesn't smell hardly at all. The muslin cloth you get with it is okay, it tends to crease up and stick to itself a bit but I just laid it on my face using probably hotter water than I should've to open my pores etc. I'm not sure whether it really made my face radiant but that's only after one use, so when I use it more and more I'm pretty sure it will have an effect.

The second skincare product I picked up was the Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream again from Superdrug's own brand, I think this was £2 or £3.99 so again really well priced. You apply this to your face after cleansing and toning and leave it overnight to work its magic. Again, I'm super impressed with this, it smells so lovely, almost of suncream and coconut and it applies so smoothly. It takes mere seconds to absorb into my skin and doesn't leave an oily/shiny residue which is great too, the morning after my skin was so soft and even I was amazed. I struggle with dry patches on my cheeks so I applied two layers of this on the dry areas and they were ultimately gone by morning.

I then went into the BodyShop, and if you know me you'll know how much I love the BodyShop goodies, I picked up 2 sample size skincare products because I wanted to try before I buy.
The first thing I picked up was the Aloe Vera Calming Toner, I thought this would be good for me because after I've cleansed my skin can get quite red where it's particularly sensitive, and I thought that this may calm the redness down whilst adding moisture. I'm not so sure about the smell of this product though, it smells rather alcoholy for a toner, but so far it seems to be working wonders! Leaves my skin soft and smooth and it feels nice and supple.

The second thing I bought was the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash, because I tend to get spots around my skin and eyebrows annoyingly. They're obviously the oily areas of my face and unfortunately I can't cover them up due to where they are. I've used this every morning since I got it and I am seeing a little improvement in my blemishes, they're less red and they appear smaller so I'm hoping that that's a good sign that it's fighting them away before I break out. Yay!

I also picked up the towel headband just to wear whilst I'm cleansing/washing my face and when I'm putting my makeup on, but I didn't think it necessary to put a photo of that on heh.

Beauty Haul

I went shopping last weekend and I bought as you may have seen some skincare goodies but I also bought some beauty bits too and here they are! (sorry for the very awks intro..)

Okay, so the first things I bought were from Superdrug just because I was in there at the time buying beauty bits and I wanted to get a few more points on my beautycard.

The first thing I bought was the Revlon Lip Butter in one of their new colours for spring summer and this was shade 027 - Juicy Papaya. I thought the colour on the plastic lid was such a nice peachy pink colour and I decided to try one of these seeings as everyone's raving about them at the mo. I did originally go in looking for the Berry Smoothie one, but they didn't have it so I bought this one instead.

The colour on the actual stick is a lot pinker than the packaging but I still think it's such a lovely light pinky orange colour which is definitely buildable. I think the colour pay off is probably less on this one, but I like that because on my neutral days I only really want a slight hint of colour on my lips.

The second thing I bought was a nail polish from the Beauty UK brand. I hadn't seen or heard of this brand before but they had quite nice colours and the items were nicely priced. I've been looking for a replacement lilac polish as my No7 has ran out - boo - and they don't stock it anywhere other than online anymore - double boo. So I bought this to see how similar/different it is to the No7 one. The colour itself is No. 51 Smokey Lilac.

The last thing from Superdrug was the Cutex Ultra Cleansing nail polish remover. I bought this because it was on offer, and my other one had ran out - not very interesting item I know!

Then I nipped into Boots and I found everything was on the 3 for 2 offer, so I picked up 2 nail polishes (which I've already featured in my NOTD post here) and then the Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 kisses lip tint in shade 700 - Nothing but Nude, this colour is quite similar to the lip butter I picked up but I fancied trying these as I hate the feeling of sticky lip balm/stick on my lips so I thought this could be a nice alternative.

The last thing I bought was the TRESemme Salon Sleek straightening spray with Argan Oil. At first, I thought this wasn't like a normal heat protect, so I put it down a few times before realising that it's a heat protect which helps straighten and smooth your hair - blonde moment. I've tried this a couple of times since buying and it's really nice, my hair feels super soft (sometimes too soft) so I would definitely recommend picking this up if you're after a bit of softening for maybe dry and weather damaged hair :)

Review: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Hey everyone!
I'm just going to jump straight into this because I'm the worst person for waffling through an intro.

I was recommended this product from another blogger (here's her link) during the bblogger's chat on twitter, (which if you don't already join you really should, it's on wednesdays and sundays 8pm-9pm GMT, just use the hashtag #bbloggers), and when I nipped into Boots on my work break I saw that it was on offer for £4.99 so I decided to pick one up.

The bottle promises a traceless coverage foundation with Advanced Smart Tone technology for perfectly flawless skin under any light. Enhanced with Sapphire Radiance for an illuminating glow. Lasts all day'. I suppose that's a lot of promise from a product really.. I can't say I'm too convinced on the whole 'smart tone technology' and thinking about it my skin didn't look flawless under any light either.. However, I do find that it gives a lovely light/medium coverage which is easily buildable without caking and looking thick on your face and it doesn't feel heavy at all on your face - it's lovely and light and leaves a naturally dewy glow to your face. On application you do get a whiff of suncream and aftersun but once its on your face you can't smell it at all, I quite liked the smell but I know the majority of people aren't keen on smelly products on their faces.

I picked up the shade 200 Soft Beige but I have to admit I was debating for quite a while between this colour and a darker one, this one matched my skin tone but I wanted something with a bit more colouring.

I would definitely recommend this product to people with combination skin as I found where my face gets oily (under my fringe) the product sort of slips away a little, not all of it, but it does get abit oily but it doesn't cling to my dry patches either, unless they're awful, so it's definitely worth a look if you're combination skin.

NOTD: MaxFactor in Candy Rose and Colour Show in Clear

I've never really considered MaxFactor as a good nail polish brand, mostly because I always assume their products are way out of my price range, so I tend not to punish myself by looking, but since there's a 3 for 2 offer on at Boots I had a look the other weekend and I picked up a colour which I wouldn't normally go for. I'm more of a vanilla kinda girl when it comes to nail colour, probably because I'm abit of a messy painter.

I apologise for my very awful skin around my nails, because I work in a sports shop and I'm in the stockrooms alot of the time, I'm forever pulling boxes out and my hands take the toll - boo :(

I love the colour on these, and I think it's quite similar to Essie's e-nuf is e-nuf or their peach daiquiri 

This is wearing it with the Colour Show top coat in clear, but I really didn't need it due to how glossy it was, I just put the top coat on for chip resistance as I'm not sure how long Max Factor's polishes last without chipping.

New blog, new start

Hey everyone, how are we all?

I don't know whether many of you will pick up on the fact that I've had a blog before using blogger, and I also have a blog using the website glipho.com, and since opening that blog I have thankfully and wonderfully gained 80+ followers, but the only thing that gets me down about their site is that you can't change themes or anything, so everyone's blog looks the same :( so I'm reverting back to good old blogger in the hope that all my lovely followers will still follow me and I'll make lots of new follower/blogger friends!

If you don't know me however, my name is Chloe and I'm 18 :) I love writing about beauty products, reviewing products and also showing you everything I've bought and just basically writing about my life really. I started blogging probably December of last year and I love it SO much! I'm hoping you guys will be kind to me and comment and follow and all sorts of things because it means so much to me! I know people say it isn't about numbers, but its nice to know that someone actually gives a damn about me and what I think rather than me posting myself onto the internet and no-one really caring. I promise to always reply to all comments and will always check out your blog in return and comment on that :)

So that's me, and I'm going to type up some posts tonight so I don't look completely lonely. I'm trying to sort my theme and look out too, so you might see changes lots :)
